Getting Here
Located just under 300km and only 2 and a half hours from Adelaide, Port Germein is an easy weekend or week long destination, or plan it in to your longer South Australian trip. Once here you’ll find a wealth of things to do and places to see in around an hours drive.
Most people self drive as the main roads are all sealed. You don’t need a 4WD but could do some off road driving if you wanted, some of the best attractions are located on short sections of unsealed diret roads.
Port Germein has a fairly unique name, so it’s a pretty safe bet that if you entered Port Germein into your GPS, this is where you would end up. 33.0212° S, 137.9992° E is a really safe bet too. It doesn’t matter where you start, there is only one location like this on the planet.
If you are visiting the region you’ll want to visit our iconic national parks including Mount Remarkable National Park and Wapma Thura Southern Flinders National Parks. Day passes are required at some locations and can be purchased online.
The Fire Danger season across the region generally runs from 1 Nov to 15 April which means no camp fires, and on total fire ban days no fires at all.
